Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, June 13th, 2006, the House Appropriations Committee passed an amendment offered by House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer to raise the minimum wage. Rep. David Price (NC-04), who serves on the committee, supported the amendment, which would raise the minimum wage to $7.25 per hour.

For loans that were disbursed on or after July 1, 1998, but before July 1, 2006, new higher interest rates will go into effect on July 1, 2006.
