Raleigh, NC - I’m pleased and honored to join you on this beautiful morning to honor our veterans – our family members and friends and the thousands of others whom we do not know, the many generations of brave men and women who lived and died in the service of our nation – and the families who supported them as well.
Raleigh, NC - Hello everyone and thank you, Administrator Hedlund, for coming to North Carolina to bring us this excellent news! I am certainly pleased to join this distinguished group -- including Mayor McFarlane and Deputy-Secretary Morris and friends from Triangle Transit -- in celebrating the City of Raleigh and kick-starting the Union Station project.
Hillcrest Cemetery, Cary, NC - Let me add my thanks to American Legion Post 67 and the Auxiliary for bringing us together for this 21st community observance.
Madam Speaker, I will be voting today for H.R. 4133 because I agree with its two basic premises. The alliance between the United States and Israel, including military support, is of critical importance. And we must prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons capability.
Raleigh, NC - "Has the like of this happened in your days or in the days of your ancestors?" asks the prophet Joel. "Tell your children about it, and let your children tell their children, and their children the next generation" (1: 2-3). That is why we gather today: to remember, to speak, to teach and learn.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the life and legacy of an inspirational and beloved North Carolinian, Dr. LeRoy Walker. Coach Walker, as most of us knew him, passed away on Monday at the age of 93 in Durham, the North Carolina community he made his home for six decades.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to congratulate this year's NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Champions, the Lady Bears of Shaw University!
As fans of the game know all too well, North Carolina schools have a tradition of excellence in collegiate basketball. That success became even more legendary in 2012. We have a new champion in our midst, the Lady Bears.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor Raleigh's First Baptist Church on the occasion of its bicentennial celebration.
