On Stopgap Funding Passage, Chairman Price Says Americans Deserve A Fair Budget Agreement

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC (November 19, 2019) – On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Congressman David Price (D-NC), Chairman of the House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, released a statement on passage of a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 20, 2019.

“The House voted today to pass a short-term measure averting yet another Trump administration government shutdown, a necessary step that shows House Democrats’ commitment to honoring the bipartisan budget deal enacted earlier this year.  I remain disappointed that Senate Republicans continue to kowtow to President Trump’s irrational demand for a border wall, especially after the Administration looted the Pentagon and other agencies to provide initial funding for his foolhardy wall.  Living up to the promise of the budget agreement means fully funding the Census, continuing funding for our HBCU’s, and meeting the day-to-day needs of the American people. It’s time for Republicans in the Senate to cast aside feckless Presidential demands, negotiate in good faith, and set reasonable budget allocations that allow us to complete the people’s work.
