Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC (June 29, 2021) – Today, Congressman David Price (NC-04), a senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that two of his Community Project Funding requests have advanced in the House as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill. The bill was passed in Subcommittee yesterday with the projects included.

The first project, totaling $3.5 million, would be awarded to the City of Henderson for upgrades and expansion to the Kerr Lake Regional Water System, which is jointly operated by the City of Oxford, City of Henderson, and Warren County. The second project, totaling $2.208 million, would be awarded to the Town of Pittsboro to upgrade their water treatment infrastructure to combat polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in the water system.

“Clean water is not a luxury – it’s fundamental to the health and safety of our communities, but our aging water infrastructure urgently needs funding.” said Congressman David Price. “I’m pleased that the House Appropriations Interior and Environment Subcommittee included these critical projects in their annual funding bill,  bringing them one step closer to reality with the passage of the House bill in Subcommittee. I will keep advocating for the inclusion of the Kerr Lake and Pittsboro projects in the final version of this year’s appropriations funding bills.

“At the same time, I’ll continue pursuing federal funding through the American Jobs Plan to improve our nation’s water infrastructure and ensure that every American has safe, clean drinking water.”

In April, Congressman Price submitted 10 requests to the House Appropriations Committee for consideration for Community Project Funding in the Fourth District. All of Congressman Price’s Community Project Funding requests can be found here and the financial disclosures can be found here
