Rep. David Price’s Statement on Retirement of Chairwoman Nita Lowey
Washington, DC (October 10, 2019) - Rep. David Price (D-NC), Chairman of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee released the following statement on the retirement of Appropriations Chairwoman Nita Lowey:
“It’s been an honor to work closely with Chairwoman Nita Lowey on the Appropriations Committee for many years,” said Congressman David Price.
“Through difficult budget disputes of recent years, I’ve watched as Chairwoman Lowey struck a delicate balance — working to build consensus while holding firm when our values were challenged — to pave the way for funding bills that invested in the American people. As Chairwoman of State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee, she’ll be remembered for her work as a steadfast champion for programs that empower women and girls, ensure basic education, and promote global health. Her decades as a thoughtful legislator and pathbreaking career as the first female Chair of the Appropriations Committee earned her the respect of colleagues on both sides of the aisle.
“I look forward to working with her for the remainder of the 116th Congress. Lisa and I wish her and Steve the best in the years ahead.”
