Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC (December 11, 2019) – The House Judiciary Committee unveiled two articles of impeachment regarding President Donald J. Trump’s abuse of power while in office. Congressman Price released the following statement as the House moved closer to voting on articles of impeachment:

“It is a somber moment for the United States as the House of Representatives moves forward with the articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump,” said Congressman David Price. “No Member comes to Congress to impeach a President, but President Trump’s gross abuse of power leaves us no choice. Attempting to extort a vulnerable foreign leader in order to achieve personal political gain and then obstructing the legitimate Congressional investigations once his behavior was exposed violates his oath of office.”

“The two articles of impeachment, for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, clearly illustrate the urgent and present threat to our democracy if we fail to uphold our own oaths of office as the first branch of government.  I do not take this responsibility lightly, or without thorough consideration of the facts at hand. It is my judgement that the Constitution requires us to act, and I intend to vote in favor of both articles of impeachment when they are brought before the full House for a vote.”
