Price Statement on Passing of Longtime Orange County Sheriff, Albert Pendergrass

WASHINGTON, DC (May 20, 2019) – Congressman David Price (D-NC) released a statement following the news that retired Orange County Sheriff Albert “Lindy” Pendergrass passed away on Sunday at the age of 85. Sheriff Pendergrass served as the elected Orange County Sheriff from 1982-2014.

“I was saddened to learn that Orange County Sheriff Pendergrass died on Sunday.  Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass will be remembered for his life of service: as a Marine, a Chapel Hill law enforcement officer, and the elected Sheriff of Orange County.  I’m grateful for the 32 years he devoted to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, where he was known for his effective outreach across the entire community and absolute determination to keep our community safe.  I have never known a more dedicated public servant. As we celebrate his life, I express my heartfelt condolences to Sheriff Pendergrass’ family, loved ones, and colleagues at the Sheriff’s Department.”
