Protecting Women's Health
The Trump Administration is only four days old, and women’s health is already under attack.
Earlier this week, President Trump signed an Executive Order reinstating and significantly expanding the so-called “Global Gag Rule,” which prevents non-profits from providing vital family planning and health care to women around the world. Yesterday, the House of Representatives doubled down on this executive action, passing extreme legislation to restrict access to family planning in the United States.
I’m appalled by these actions – politicians in Washington should not be dictating women’s access to reproductive care. I have cosponsored legislation to permanently repeal the Global Gag Rule, and I will continue to fight to ensure that women in the United States and across the globe have access to health care, including safe reproductive services.
We are entering a period of tremendous political uncertainty, and it will be critically important to recommit ourselves to the values of inclusion and social justice that undergird our democracy. You can rest assured that as long as I am your representative, I will be fighting to defend the progress we have made on affordable health care and many other vital issues.
